CAPYI Information

PCNA has Expanded its CAPYI information and portal. ALL CAPYI Program information and documents are available at www.capyi.ca

Connectedness is pivotal in empowering Canadians with the skills, competencies, and tools necessary to innovate and take advantage of Canada's ICT infrastructure.  It also promotes sustainable development and provides Canadians with access to education, knowledge, commerce, and opportunities in the communities in which they reside.  As a result, all Canadians are provided with the means to participate in the creation and sharing of knowledge.

CAP YI receives funding from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) to hire youth between the ages of 15 to 30 to work in CAP Sites.  The PCNA is the Delivery Agent for this program in all of BC with the exception of the Lower Mainland and the Island Communities networks.

Youth work as interns at CAP Sites across Canada, helping individuals, community organizations and small businesses improve their ability to effectively use ICT. Specific activities may include:

  • Delivering Internet training sessions;
  • Researching and developing Web sites;
  • Drafting publicity materials;
  • Organizing information fairs and special events; and
  • Providing technical support to the CAP site.
