Network Overview

Detailing over 550 CAP sites across the region: http://www.pcna.ca/networks/

Communication

The PCNA offers a few different communication options for CAP sites and CAP Networks - all FREE .

  • Ventrillo (see below)
  • IRC (see below)
  • VClass (see below)

The PCNA is pleased to offer a FREE communication tool for all CAP Networks and sites.  It is easy to use and allows you to easily communicate with the PCNA and/or your sites and colleages.   The PCNA has 100 available slots and many meeting rooms to ensure privacy.  You can also visit the PCNA website and view an online real-time status of the VENT server (who is online and what meetings are taking place).

We are currently working on a presentation tool that will work along side Ventrilo - stay tuned - we expect the combination of these tools to be a big factor at the upcoming 2008 Summit.

Setup PDF file - it takes less than 5 minutes to setup!

IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

The  PCNA has an IRC Server - check out the IRC link under tools..  We are there Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 5:30.

Vclass

VClass is an online collaboration tool that any CAP site or Network can use - you only need to book an appointment or "class" with the PCNA.  We offer training on how to use VClass.   PCNA has provided the Neil Squire Foundation with access for training on accessiblity issues for a few years.  Think about Vclass the next time you want to meet with your cap sites or offer training.

For a complete view of this online learning tool - visit:  www.elluminate.com

VOIP

At these sites we have installed Grandstream BudgeTone 100 Internet telephones.

Telephone operation:

These phones are connected to the "Asterisk" PBX system in the Victoria Telecommunity Network. Other phones on this system may be called by dialing the IP phone number for that site.

Also any of the numbers assigned by the Free World Dialup organization in New York (fwd.pulver.com) may also be called by first dialing the prefix "8".
