The following software packages are recommended to ensure that your CAP machines are functioning normally
Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft security essentials is a software package featuring Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware directly from microsoft. It is a free product. We recommend this software over other free anti-virus and anti-spyware offerings. This software is available for Windows XP (updated to Service pack 2), Vista and Windows 7.
Faronics Deep Freeze - Deep freeze was very popular during the Windows 95/98 days and has started to become popular at CAP sites once again. In short, deep freeze allows for total lockdown of a CAP machine. Any activity undertaken on a CAP machine will automatically be cleared on a restart. Deepfreeze automatically protects against possible windows problems and intential misuse of the CAP machine by 'Freezing' the system at the state that it encountered when first installed. We cannot praise this software enough. It allows CAP sites to deal with many issues by simply restarting the machine. Please visit the Deep Freeze website for more information.
Remote Support via Crossloop
For remote desktop support (when we connect into your CAP computer and fix it directly) PCNA has been using a software package called Crossloop. Crossloop is a very secure application that allows us to connect directly to your CAP computer and perform maintence and service. Part of the reason why Crossloop is secure is it requires someone at the CAP computer to give us a unique ID that is generated each time the program is ran. In addition to using crossloop for desktop support, we also use crossloop for system maintenance at CAP sites. Please contact us if you would like to join our scheduled updates and maintenance program. Click here to download crossloop
System Purchasing
Many sites run into questions when looking at replacing CAP machines. We have tested many different configurations and manufactures and can help point you in the right direction. We have volume purchasing agreements with both Tigerdirect (tigerdirect.ca) and Netlink Computers (Ncix.com) that allow us to find great deals when its time for CAP sites to upgrade.
